NextGen Competition Statement on DOJ’s Next Steps in Google Antitrust Lawsuit
In contemplating how to loosen the tech giant’s firm grip on online search, the Department of Justice and state attorneys general should think big
The following statement can be attributed to George Rakis, Executive Director for NextGen Competition (nextgencomp.tech):
As we know, decisions in antitrust cases can have staggering effects that ripple across industries for decades to come. We recently called the decision in the Google antitrust lawsuit a “reckoning for Big Tech.” Now, we urge the Justice Department to think big when it comes to curtailing the tech giant’s monopoly in online search. Allowing smaller businesses to thrive will benefit consumers and competition alike, while holding Google accountable and sending a message to Big Tech: enough with anti-competitive behavior and anti-consumer practices.
